The Lake County courthouse will be opening to the public without appointment Monday, March 29th, 2021
Lake County announced today that the courthouse will be open to the public next week Monday, March 29th, 2021, without appointment being needed. The courthouse and county operations were already being handled by appointment only and staff has been available by phone. Any court related questions can be referred to (231)745-4614. This change does not impact the courts, as they have their own schedule from the state, and will give their own notice of updates.
This decision came after meeting with staff and departments to accommodate the various county functions, and to do it safely. Lake County has procedures in place for public entry. The general public will still undergo physical security screening, in addition to COVID-19 related screening. Guests must wear a face covering and exercise safe practices, e.g. 6 feet social distancing, and washing hands, etc.
In the event of any uptick in COVID cases as a result of re-opening, Lake County is prepared to scale back access while still providing services to our customers.
Please keep in mind, any court related issues (Friend of the Court, Probate, Trial Court, or family related matters) please call (231)745-4614 as their re-opening schedule will not always parallel regular county operation schedules. If a customer enters the courthouse, please do not attempt to access the top floor, as it is restricted by the courts.
